IIT Kanpur Campus Facilities and Infrastructure

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpuris a 420-hectare campus on the Grand Trunk Road, 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) west of Kanpur City (1,000 acres). Uttar Pradesh donated this land in 1960, and the institute moved to its current location in March 1963. According to the NIRF 2022,IIT Kanpuris ranked as India's fourth top engineering college. As a birthplace of computer science education, IIT Kanpur started its journey of teaching computer science by using IBM computers. Over the years it has grown and now is one of the country's largest campuses. The institute now has 3938 undergraduate and 2540 graduate students enrolled. The IIT Kanpur campus covers a total of 1055 acres and contains 108 structures.

Computer centre: All of the institute's facilities, as well as massive clusters of project PIs, office automation servers, the telephone exchange, and other institute servers, are housed in five data centres with precise air conditioning. All CC facilities have 24-hour uninterrupted electricity thanks to a UPS system and a diesel generator. The entire facility is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

Hostel: TheIIT Kanpur hostel is outstanding, with offices such as a TV room, reading room, and mess facility, as well as sporting facilities such as a basketball court, football field, badminton court, volleyball court, a computer centre, and a canteen.

Library: It offers a great library with a high-speed PC network that allows users to access library e-assets anytime from anywhere. There are 274,362 books and 1955 diaries at the IIT Kanpur library.

Community Centre: The two Community Centres (ComC-1 and ComC-2) are primarily intended to provide a venue for Institute staff to engage in recreational activities such as sports, private ceremonies such as weddings, and social/religious group activities. On the wedding grounds, the receptions are placed. Recreational amenities are available in the two community centres' rooms 2 and 3. Private ceremonies and social and religious events can be held in Rooms 4, 5, and 6 and the courtyard and its facilities.

Book Club: To accommodate various tastes, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur maintains a diverse collection of books.
